OUR STORY 

In 2009, the mortgage industry was still reeling from the mortgage crisis which left numerous experienced underwriters and other financial professionals wondering what would happen next. This led to a multitude of seasoned professionals moving into the world of consulting on a contract basis. Many of the large due diligence firms took advantage of this pool of experienced professionals and rented them out to the highest bidder. Consultants had to endure long hours and spent weeks, or even months on the road away from their families and friends. It wasn’t uncommon for the diligence firms to expect the consultants to work 7 days a week on an ongoing basis. The large diligence firms used a ‘churn and burn’ mentality that focused more on their financial gain rather than the best interest of the people they employed. In many cases, a lending institution could hire any one of the large diligence firms, but the consultants doing the work came from the same pool of people. It didn’t matter which firm you hired – you still had the same people working on your files.

The founders of Ancram Consultants were part of this consultant community and felt there had to be a more humane way to treat the people in the trenches while still providing exceptional work to clients. It was at this time that a consortium was formed to bring together some of the best commercial underwriters in the industry. The thought was to keep overhead low, pay consultants a fair fee, and give them the opportunity to have more control over their lives. The result is a community of well-seasoned professionals who are loyal to Ancram and their clients. 

OUR CLIENTS

We treat every client as a part of a collaborative community and our team does whatever it takes to satisfy our clients’ needs. Many of our clients are smaller institutions that don’t have the budgets of some of the large national companies. For a lot of these smaller institutions, hiring a third party can be costly and cut into profits. Ancram understands the needs of our clients and we work hard to make third party due diligence affordable. We’re proud to provide affordable services to those companies that offer more choices to the communities that they serve.
